Three-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to become TAG Heuer?s new ambassador. The Swiss company, founded in 1860, selected the Hollywood actor because of interests in similar causes. Both do not only share the same relentless drive to push innovation and exceed expectations, especially their own, but are also both deeply involved in environmental issues, with DiCaprio having been a relentless activist on behalf of the environment for many years. Profits from sales will be donated to two charities, namely Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Green Cross International. Among the watches DiCaprio will promote is TAG Heuer?s 43-millimeter Carrera Day-Date chronograph, and this week?s Editors Choice. The Carrera is a timepiece reminiscent of the early racing days of the ?Gentlemen Drivers? of the 1950s and has a fixed bezel (of solid gold) with a tachymeter. This exquisite and precise timepiece is the Swiss company?s most successful, except with a twist: by purchasing one, you can do your bit for the environment.
